Does Your Car Have Original VIN, or You Are the Next Victim of Cloning Car

”Car cloning “. This is a process where criminals copy VIN (vehicle identification number) of cars, and after that use the same numbers on a stolen cars to register them. Car theft rings clone vehicles by taking license plates, vehicle identification numbers (VIN), and other tags and stickers from a legal car and putting them on a stolen vehicle of similar make and model. Usually a luxury car or fully-loaded SUV.

car thiefThis process is a big problem for a new car owners whose VIN numbers were copied. So don’t be surprised if sometimes you get some parking ticket which cloned car gets, or to be guilty of charge for causing an accident, or put you in the middle of organized crime.

It happens all over the world. If you buy a cloned vehicle and its true story is discovered: first – your car will be confiscated, second – you will be responsible for any outstanding loans, and third – you will spend a big deal of time and money trying to prove that it wasn’t you or your car.

The FBI has tips on how to detect if your car’s VIN has been copied, or if you’re about to purchase a stolen car:

• If you think your car was cloned (for example, you receive notice of unpaid parking tickets that aren’t yours), contact your local police.
• If you’re car shopping, beware of a car being sold for substantially less than comparable makes and models.
• Get a copy of the vehicle’s history report.
• Check out the VIN plate on the dashboard for any evidence of tampering (scratches, etc.)
• Look for incorrect spelling on paperwork like vehicle titles.
• Trust your intuition – if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
